One question that been asked time and again- what is employee engagement, and is HR is the only department in the organization that should be responsible for employee engagement? There is no formal definition, however, there are few directions-

Gallup – Engaged employees as those who are involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their work and workplace.
Willis Towers Watson – Engagement is employees’ willingness and ability to contribute to company success.
Aon Hewitt – Employee engagement is “The level of an employee’s psychological investment in their organization.“
HR is not the only department responsible for employee engagement. Mid-level managers should play a key role. The organization should empower mid-level managers to take additional responsibility, be trained, and be involved in strategic initiatives with regards to boosting employee morale
